Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Rugby Union Centenary. DESCRIPTION: It’s the match of the Rugby giants...England v the Rest of the World at Twickenham in a match to celebrate Rugby Union’s one hundred years. England put up a bold front against the Presidents XV team, but couldn’t match the visitors’ brilliance - going down finally 28 to 11. The Queen was also there to commemorate the anniversary. SHOTLIST: CU sign Rugby Union Centenary zoom in on picture of Twickenham. SV Queen arrives, she starts to unveil plaque. SCU plaque. CU rosettes - Presidents XV, ditto England. TV zoom out & pan as England (white) kick off from L to R. TV pan general play within Presidents 25 yard area. TV pan Presidents attack, David Duckham takes marvellous tackle on Cottrel (Presidents No 12) but No 3 Marias picks up loose ball & goes over to score for Presidents. LV scoreboard - England 0 Presidents 3. Ground shot pan England attacking. TV Hiller receives ball from loose scrum & and attempts to drop a goal, pan with ball as it fails. Ground shot zoom out as Hiller kicks penalty for England. LV scoreboard England 3, Presidents 3. TV pan general play England attacking. Ground shot Presidents attack, No 7 Ian Kirkpatrick scores try. Ground shot pan and zoom out as Pierre Villepreux converts. LV scoreboard England 3, Presidents 8. TV pan general play England attacking. TV pan as Hiller kicks enormous penalty for England. LV scoreboard England 6 Presidents 8, ground shot pan Presidents attack. Denzil Williams scores try - pan to crowd (at this point there was a try & conversion by both sides which we haven’t shown - England 11, Presidents 18. TV pan Presidents win scrum & feed ball along three quarter line - No 11 Williams receives it and runs on to score this try, was converted, but is not shown - score now is England 11, Presidents 23. GV crowd. TV pan Presidents attack - Williams goes over line but runs on cheekily to place ball right between the posts. This try was also converted. LV scoreboard England 11, Presidents 28. TV crowd on pitch. TV players walk off.
