Summary

MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Pedestrian Catcher - Colour. DESCRIPTION: At Crowthorne, British Leyland demonstrate a new safety car. It has a low profile bonnet with a device which catches pedestrians and saves them from injury. SHOTLIST: SCU zoom out SRV 1 Marina. SV ditto pan. SV SRV 2 pan up man gets in. SV man getting into SRV2. CU automatic seat belts, they wrap round & click in position as door is shut. CU pedals of car moving up from floor, man places feet on them. CU man adjusting steering wheel. CU hands on steering wheel. CU closed lid of front headlights, pops up washer on light starts revolving. CU washer revolving on headlight, light goes out & lid closes on headlight. CU diagram Mk II installation, the Britax chest holder at 92’ pan down to chest holder on demo stand. CU man switching on ignition on demo stand. SV chest holder moving. SV interior chest holder fitted in, chest holder clamps down on his chest. SV SRV 5 pedestrian catcher. CU bumper and catcher bar. SV man kicks bumper of SRV5, & the catcher bar pops up. SV pan dummy zoom out to show oncoming car with catcher fitted, car hits dummy and it is caught on bonnet by catcher. CU dummy on bonnet. SV pan car moving toward dummy (not in view), car without catcher hits dummy which falls off and rolls on road, zoom into dummy. CU bumper of car fitted with catcher zoom out to show dummy on bonnet. SCU dent in car without catcher (used in demonstration) on front, pan to dummy on road. CU pan dummy on road. SV dummy standing on road zoom out to reveal car fitted with catcher approaching. SV view of dummy and road ahead from car zoom in SV car hitting dummy and catcher catching it.
