- NoS Summary - The right and wrong way to dance - by Phyllis Haylor and Alec Millar/Alex Miller.
British Pathe synopsis: Phyllis Haylor and Alec Millar holders of the World’s Ballroom Championship in 1925 and the World’s Tango Championship of 1924 give cinema audiences some dancing tips. "How often do we see dancing spoilt by a few small faults which could easily be avoided. For instance there’s the couple whose arm work resembles a pump handle - " A couple dance close to the camera with their arms sticking out. Other couples also dance on the dance floor. "- and the straight arm variety" is shown - a man holding his partner’s arm high in the air. "Some do not trouble to hold at all - " A couple dance very close only holding each other with one arm. "-while others keep at a distance." - a man holds his partner at arms length. "Here is the correct hold for the waltz or fox-trot." - Phyllis and Alec show us how it’s done. "For the tango, the arms should be bent a little more." - again we are shown the correct way to hold our partners. "Another common fault is dancing on the toes." C/U of the feet of a couple who make this mistake. "- when the correct way is to keep the heels down." correct stance is shown. "The good dancing couple moves with grace and freedom - because they have taken the trouble to correct such faults as we have shown you." Phyllis and Alec dance and the other couples join in. - Keywords
