British Pathe synopsis: "Some of the prettiest pebbles we know lie about the beach at Deauville. (accent on the "dough")" reads the introductory intertitle. High angle L/S showing the promenade and a cafe with outside tables. M/Ss of a group of sunbathers. "The chief worker here is old man Sol - ‘ware that sun complexion." C/U of woman sunbathing - she has taken the straps of her swimsuit over her shoulders to prevent getting a tan mark. She wiggles her feet around in the air. M/S of two other women sunbathing. "For those energetic Eves, a spot of exercise." Girls do cartwheels on the beach. A man lies on the sand, a girl stands on his hands and he lifts her up. Woman in swimsuit and jaunty hat does some stretching exercises on the sand. "No matter where our camera points, this kind of view always "butts in!" A woman stands at the waters edge paddling in the waves. C/U of the woman’s back. "Deauville, isn’t the only place, however, where beach pebbles are found - at the Clifton (Margate) we met a crowd of them. Outdoor swimming pool / Lido. Beauty contest - girls walk around the edge of the pool in swimsuits. Various shots of the girls. "Whether parading on the bath edge, or dancing in the middle, they’re just as easy to look at - " M/S of the girls in the pool. C/U of three of the girls in swimwear. M/S of three of the girls in swimsuits and robes. M/S of three girls in trousers, shirts and hats - slightly nautical look. "Such a contrast, too, when you look back to the styles of other days - !" Girls parade by the side of the pool in modern and old fashioned swimsuits. C/U of old fashioned woman’s feet, camera pans up to reveal her standing looking very snooty - presumably implying disapproval of the modern swimsuits. She pulls a shocked face. - Keywords
