Summary
NoS Summary - Two women dance a hornpipe - various camera tricks.
British Pathe synopsis: "There’s nothing to equal the sprightly hornpipe to make your toes tingle." Two women dressed in sailor suits perform a hornpipe. Their image is screened inside a picture frame device. They embellish the hornpipe with a bit of tap dancing and some high kicks. "One special-process camera stumbled a bit here, and moments became a little "sailors-don’t-carish". Slow motion footage of their act. Images are frozen then started up again for a trick effect. "Our camera wasn’t quite sure whether it wanted to heave or ho!" Optical printing used to duplicate images of the girls so there appears to be four rather than two. Various trick effects used. "Dancers have many tricks of their own, but the camera is even more tricky!" More trick footage (mirror images, stop and start sequence etc.) "A gentleman at the back thought he saw three pairs dancing. In order not to let him down our camera will oblige!" Three couples are then seen. Then four.
