Summary
NoS Summary - police dogs searching for contraband and attacking criminals.
British Pathe synopsis: Hull, Humberside. "Probably these Railway Dock Police were amongst the first to appreciate the value of Airedales - as four-footed assistants on Patrol..." L/S of group of policemen in overcoats and police helmets. They each have an Airedale on a lead. L/S of the police walking across a bridge at the dogs with their dogs. High angle of the policemen and their dogs walking along the quayside. M/S of policeman and his dog walking up a gangplank. He is followed by another policeman and his dog. "Their sense of smell and hearing is uncanny, and they "turn up" all sorts of queer things in the acres of Dock buildings..." C/U of an Airedale wearing a muzzle. Various shots of the dog sniffing around some boxes. The dog jumps on a pile of blankets and gets very excited when he discovers a man hiding beneath them. Another dog attacks the man whilst the policeman stands by. The two dogs jump around the man. "Since the dogs were introduced, pilfering has decreased in popularity..." M/S of a man apparently stealing something from a pile of boxes. Two policemen rush in with dogs on leads and the dogs jump up at the man, knocking him down on the ground. "Slow-motion" shows how rapidly these trained Airedales "arrest" their man..." Slow motion of dog being let off a lead to go for a man who is running away from a policeman. Another dog comes along and they both attack the man. The man is helped up by two policemen as the dogs jump around him. "Wages!" M/S of the dogs eating from bowls. "The Watch Dog!" C/U of dog wearing a policeman’s helmet.
