Summary

Under bad weather conditions Duke of Edinburgh starts mass cycle race in Windsor Great Park. Frenchman, Beyaert, wins from large field in stiff 120-mile event. In the Boxing Finals at Wembley, Lightweight Division, Dreyer of South Africa beats Vissers of Belgium. In the Light Heavyweight Division Hunter, also of South Africa, beats Sergeant Scott, Great Britain. Thrilling display of horsemanship in Prix des Nations as Mexican team gain first place in spectacular jumping contest, with Spain and Great Britain second and third respectively. At closing ceremony flags of all competing nations are marched into area as Mr Sigrid Edstrom, President of International Olympic Committee, makes formal announcement of end of games.
