- South Goodwin Lightship wrecked on Goodwin Sands after breaking moorings. US helicopter crew return to Manston after rescuing Ronald Murton (sole survivor) filmed in Ramsgate Hospital. Seven survivors of tanker World Concord are brought to Holyhead. Both halves of tanker, which broke in two, are filmed under tow. Paramount survey of storm areas includes South Coast, Midlands, Dorset and Cornwall.
