My TRILT Help

While in the TRILT database you should always use the database buttons for navigation rather than your browser buttons.

MY TRILT

My TRILT allows you to personalise TRILT, to send copies of programme records to yourself and to colleagues and to set up auto alerts for forthcoming programmes.

EMAIL MARKED RECORDS

Searching and Marking

Once you have found records that you want to email to yourself or a colleague, you should mark them. This can be done on the results page: you should click the checkboxes to the left-hand side of the titles in which you are interested and then press the 'mark selected' button at the top of the column. It can also be done on the full record page: the 'mark record' button is to the right of the title.

Managing Marked Records

Once you have marked the records you wish to email, click on the 'My TRILT' tab on the top menu panel and you will automatically be taken to the 'Email Marked Records' page. If you discover that you have marked too many programmes you can delete records by checking the boxes to the left hand side of the records and then clicking the 'remove selected' button. However, once you have done this you cannot recover the records without rerunning the search and marking the records again.

Email Addresses

TRILT will automatically save your email address in the 'From' field, so simply fill in the 'To' field with the email addresses of the people you want to send the record(s) to. You can send records to as many as ten addresses at a time; multiple addresses should be comma separated. There is also a box for additional information. This is optional.

There is a limit on the number of records you can mark and send, this limit is currently set to 100, and only 10 emails can be sent from each account each day.

Remove

Pressing the 'remove all' button deletes all records on the page. Pressing the 'remove selected' button deletes any records with a check in the checkbox beside the title.

AUTO ALERTS

This is a facility which searches the TRILT database on your behalf once a week and emails you the results. It uses searches that you have saved and these can be as simple or as complicated as you want, but if you find you are receiving too many results, using the limitations will filter out many irrelevant programmes. All you have to do is choose which day of the week you wish to receive emails and press the 'save changes' button.

Saving Searches

In order to save a search you have already carried out, go to the 'Search History' section. This will call up a list of the last 20 searches you have carried out in this session, with the most recent search at the top. You then have the option to refine searches, view the results or save searches. If you click the 'save search' button, the search will automatically be activated as an auto alert.

Managing Auto Alerts

Activating/Deactivating Searches

To deactivate an alert, press the 'deactivate alert' button on the right hand side of the relevant search. You can tell when a search is active by looking for the blue circle with a white tick in it to the far right hand side of the search. If there is no tick then the search is inactive; to activate a search press the 'activate alert' button.

Select a Day of the Week

This drop-down list allows you to choose the day of the week on which you want to receive the alert email(s). Remember to press the 'save changes' button when you have selected the day.

Refine Search

This button allows you to refine searches and resave them. The refined search is added to the top on the list. Note: The original search is not automatically deleted.

See Results

This button allows you to view the results of a search again.

Delete Search

When you are no longer interested in a particular subject, for instance once a course is finished or a piece of research completed, you can delete the saved search(es). To do this simply check the checkboxes to the left hand side of the relevant searches and press the 'delete selected searches' button at the bottom left of the screen.

User Preferences

This is the area of the TRILT service that allows users to change their details such as name and email address. Remember to click the 'save details' button when modifying these fields. Passwords are managed by Athens and you should contact your Athens administrator about those. Check your personal Athens account details at: http://www.athensams.net/myathens/
