Summary
While France wrestled with its latest problems, Scotland warmly greeted President Saragat of Italy. It was a crowded schedule for the president, but proved a tremendously successful part of his 10-day State Visit. At the Foreign Office, Signor Nenni, Italian Secretary of State, and Mr Michael Stewart, Foreign and Commonwealth Secretary, signed far-reaching agreements which further strengthened the ties between Britain and Italy.
