- Summary
- Pathe synopsis: We’re in Greece - or we think we are - though, in fact, we start on an aircraft which provides the food, music and atmosphere of the country of destination as soon as you take off. We’ve got fish, with multi-coloured wine. We’re on the Acropolis, a vast army of tourists kicking marble chips which were there in classical days. But - suddenly - we’re away in an outpost of Greek culture, where there’s a crystal sea and no crowds whatsoever. We’re on an island, famous before Athens was built and long after it crumbled as the home of the Knights of St John of Jerusalem. It’s famous still, for its peace and beauty, this island of Apollo, the sun god. And you find sunshine and sun-god magic in the famous towns, the sleepy villages, the streamlined hotels and the forgotten glade where butterflies follow the call of a whistling boy - a pied piper on this island of the sun.
