- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: US Bombers Smash Oilfields. DESCRIPTION: When the Ninth United States Air Force, commanded by Major General Brereton, went for the Ploesti oil fields in Nazi-controlled Rumania, they struck Hitler a blow that really hurt. SHOTLIST: Cut story - Various shots on aerodrome, Liberators take off. Passing African coast, over Mediterranean, over Greek coast, various shots of formations of Libs. Aerial shots as we approach target, smoke rising from burning oilfields, various shots, Liberators making their way out again, after dropping their bombs etc. Shots of Liberators passing over Danube. Formation of Liberators homeward bound. Liberators landing. Open air briefing, presided over by General Brereton. Americans roll bombs to planes.
