MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Montgomery Bridge Opened Across the Rhine. DESCRIPTION: The biggest Bailey Bridge yet made now spans the Rhine. Named the Montgomery Bridge to commemorate the first crossing of the river by Monty’s men. SHOTLIST: CUT STORY: KS GV wreckage of old remaining bridge, pan to new Bailey bridge spanning across the Rhine. MS Royal Engineers paraded for inspection by Lieutenant General Thomas (lst Corps Commander) who is seen inspecting. CU types of Sappers. Lt General walks up to ribbon across entrance to bridge and cuts same with scissors and says "I declare this bridge open and name it Montgomery Bridge". Trucking shot across bridge. Sappers give three cheers. CU plaque "Montgomery Bridge".
