MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: UNO Faces Up to Food Crisis. DESCRIPTION: With housewives up in arms about the reductions in food rations, the United Nations debate the world food crisis. The next day marked the end of the Assembly whose next meeting will be in September. SHOTLIST: KS GV women giving their three women deputation a "send off" from Livingstone Hall, Westminster. Various shots of the three women on their way to Houses of Parliament. They are Mrs I Lovelock, Mrs Maxwell and Mrs Landau. About to enter Parliament, being checked by policeman. Interior shot of Central Hall, Westminster, elevated shot. LS Mr Bevin walks to rostrum, MS & CU of him making a speech about food, one important item being "there is still a war on as far as food is concerned". Mr Stettinius walks out of camera to rostrum, MS & CU of during speech "USA will support the food situation whole heartedly". Cut-ins of audience applauding etc., include United Kingdom, Russian and USA delegates. Bevin shakes Stettinius’s hand after the end of his speech. CU Vyshinsky. LS chairman and president. SV-CU Mr Lie. CU Lie stands up to announce compliments etc. Cut-in applause. LS & elevated shot of Assembly standing up to leave, shaking hands with one another.
