MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: News From Germany. DESCRIPTION: LANDMARK REMOVED - Two Temples of Honour which Hitler had erected in Munich have now been demolished. MINERS GET HOUSES - Nissen huts are being used to re-house miners in the Ruhr area. WINTER NOW THE ENEMY - A spell of bitter weather has resulted in a number of deaths and ice breakers are being used to keep open the canals in the Hamburg area. SHOTLIST: CUT STORY: KS Pan of Temples of Honour. GV of same. Several various shots of same. Dynamite laid around pillars. CU man turning key to explode dynamite. Cut-in of Temple of Honour collapsing. These were situated in the Koningsplatz, Munich. (33 seconds). In Ruhr, Mr Hynd alights from car, greeted by army official. Inspects houses under construction, those partly destroyed by the war. German builders working on houses. Germans building Nissen huts. Interior shots of Nissen hut shows bedroom and living room. Germans placing glass wool on roof of huts. Mr Hynd inspects, several shots of him, including CU. (45 seconds). At Hamburg shot of frozen banks of River Elbe, shot under bridge frozen river, shipping at standstill. Shots of partially ruined houses covered with snow. CU German type, putting his coat collar up. Various shots of the waterways including the Elbe frozen. Ice breaker’s bows forcing it’s way through. Several shots of fishing smacks (boats) going along river. GV of shipping on river, as seen from a bridge, very good. (37 seconds).
