MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Truman Speaks on the Soviet. DESCRIPTION: At the University of California President Truman receives an honorary degree of Doctor of Laws. Afterwards he spoke about foreign policy and having no aggressive intentions toward the Soviet Union. SHOTLIST: CUT STORY: KS Truman stands on platform of railway car. Elevated GV of crowds at University of California in grounds. MS Truman being presented with Honorary Doctor of Law. GV audience. SCU Truman speaks saying We have no hostile or aggressive designs against the Soviet Union or any other country. We are not waging a cold war. The charged - that exists is not between the Soviet Union and the United States, it is between the Soviet Union and the rest of the world. What the world needs in order to regain a sense of security is an end to Soviet obstruction and aggression. America has faith in people. It knows that rulers rise and fall but that people live on. The American people from the mighty rostrum of the United Nations call out to peoples of the world to join with them to preserve the peace.
