Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Britain’s No 1 Bathing Beauty. DESCRIPTION: At the Morecambe and Heysham swimming stadium, the search for Britain’s top bathing beauty reached a climax. The judges were Jimmy Edwards, Mr Charles Eade (Sunday Dispatch Editor) and Joy Nichols. The winner was 18 year old Violet Pretty (yes, that really is her name) from Birmingham. SHOTLIST: GV Pan across swimming pool. GV line of bathing beauties. LS competitors. GV pan along line of rear of girls. GV judges Jimmy Edwards. Charles Eade (Sunday Despatch Editor) and Joy Nichols. CU Marlene Dee (2nd place), MS & CU the winner, Violet Pretty. CU Jimmy Edwards curling his moustache. MS Joy Nichols puts sash on the winner. 2 shots. Mayor presents cheque for £1,000. MS Jimmy Edwards congratulates winner. MS Mr Eade hands over bowl. MS Jimmy Edwards asks Violet if she likes men with moustaches to which she replies "Yes" and jumps up & down. He then jokes around a bit more.
