- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The Queen With the Maoris. DESCRIPTION: At Waitangi, near the Treaty House where Maoris ceded sovereignty to Queen Victoria, a Maori chief made the traditional challenge to the Royal visitors. After a weird form of welcome, Her Majesty the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh witnessed a song-and-dance greeting by some two hundred Maori people. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Maori girls. Crowds assembled. LS Maori chief out, goes towards Queen who is waiting. Lays stick at her feet. Retreats. Cut-in CU of Maori effigy. Queen seated watches Maori dancing. First women then the men. Cut-in small wooden Maori figure. LS dancing. Queen watches same.
