Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Royal Tour. Victoria. DESCRIPTION: One of Her Majesty’s most important engagements in Victoria was to open the State Parliament. At Flemington, the Queen and the Duke saw the Queen Elizabeth Stakes. The Royal visitors later went to Kooyong where a tennis test match was in progress. Her Majesty met the players including Australian Davis Cup players Hoad and Rosewall. At Flinders Naval Depot, a big parade by the Royal Australian Navy was inspected by the Duke of Edinburgh. SHOTLIST: Cut story - Queen walking down the steps of Parliament after opening same. . Racing at Flemington. Queen and Duke mount stairs into Royal Box. Various shots of fashions on the course. Queen and Duke in Royal Box watching the race through glasses. Kooyong - Tennis match in progress watched by Queen and Duke. Royal visitors inspect the Davis Cup. Accompanied by Sir Norman Brooks. Queen & Duke presented with miniature replicas. Queen presents souvenirs to players, including the famous Rosewall. Flinders - Naval depot. Duke of Edinburgh inspects and presents colours to the Navy. Takes salute at marchpast.
