MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: New Forth Bridge. DESCRIPTION: One of the most famous and most beautiful bridges in the world, the old Forth Bridge, was built for rail traffic only. Road traffic has had to be served by ferries. But, in a few years, all that will be a thing of the past. For the Secretary of State for Scotland, Mr John Maclay, is seen in these pictures, turning a valve to set a pile-driver in action: the first pile for the new road bridge to be built a short way up-stream.
