Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: School Blazer. DESCRIPTION: A State School a few miles away from Melbourne, went up in flames and smoke. Police said they believed the fire was started by 3 small boys, who decided it would be great fun to play with matches. Now, our pictures show the Norwegian 25,000 ton tanker Polyana with a fire blazing for’ard, and another burning aft. Help was on the way with HMS Dalrymple, a Royal Naval survey vessel had reached the scene. Other ships, too, including the Caltex Rome and another tanker, the Texaco Iowa, helped with the rescue operations, that saved 28 of Polyana’s crew. SHOTLIST: Key scene. MS blazer. MS fires.
