- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Exercise Mayflight. DESCRIPTION: Vulcan bombers were at a dispersal point, ready for Exercise Mayflight, which was directed by the AOC Bomber Command, Air Marshal Sir Kenneth Cross. The exercise was to test the offensive element of Britain’s contribution to the deterrent. Lightnings were taking part in Exercise Matador, in which Fighter Command’s role was being tested. Fighter Command’s job was to detect and combat enemy activity. Acting as one of the bandits was a Canadian CF100. Hunters of Fighter Command were also involved in Matador.
