MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: News in Colour. Festival of the Lord Jagannath. DESCRIPTION: One of India’s most colourful religious festivals when thousands of Hindu pilgrims journey to Puri to see the ancient god Lord Jagannath paraded through the streets. From the famous temple, the image of the God is hauled atop a sixteen-wheeled chariot for the procession. The pilgrims believe that if they help to draw the chariot they’ll be cleansed of sin and achieve purity of the soul. SHOTLIST: BGV mass crowd & the 3 chariots parked in main street. LV ditto.
