- COI synopsis: A surgeon investigating the possibility of cancer in a patient will want to guage the malignancy of the particular tumour before proceeding with hazardous major surgery. How can he do it? The answer may lie in a simple research test involving the embryo of a chick inside an egg. By implanting a portion of the tumour into the chick embryo, and watching the growth of the placental cells around it, he can assess the degree of its malignancy.
