Opera in five acts by Ambroise Thomas. In this broadcast only Acts I & II are performed. Thomas Allen sings the title role. The performance was recorded at the Buxton Opera House on 5 August 1980 as part of the Buxton Festival. Manchester Camerata and the Buxton Festival Chorus are conducted by Anthony Hose.
