- Commentary: Only in the world of humans does the female appear more glamorous than the male. Taking a look at animals, it’s the stag with those magnificent antlers: with humans, it’s the girl with the garden-party headgear who catches the eye. What could be more colourful than a peacock’s tail? Yet, in the feathered world the female is just the dowdy layer of eggs.
