Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Hindu New Year Festival. DESCRIPTION: At Delhi, tens of thousands of Hindus and Sikhs have been celebrating the Hindu New Year and the Kumbh Festival (which is only held every 14 years). On this occasion all pious Hindus in the neighbourhood bathe in the waters to wash away their sins. SHOTLIST: KS. General street scene. Crowds pack streets. Blind singer waves bamboo stick. Another sits in street performing with python. A "Sadhu" with sacred cow. Another person all dressed up. Crowds on banks of Jumna River undressing & bathing, by the hundred in the river, several shots. Some in river bathing.
