Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Ablaze in the Gulf. DESCRIPTION: Our pictures show the British liner Dara, a few hours after the explosion and the fire that resulted in tragedy. Its believed that some 200 people lost their lives. British tankers were first on the scene, but rescue was difficult, owing to the extent of the blaze and also to weather conditions. It was because of a storm that the Dara left the port of Dubai and moved into the Persian Gulf. Over 300 survivors were picked up by one of the British vessels standing by, and altogether more than 560 people were saved. Later, the Dara was taken in tow, but she sank while on her way to Bahrein. SHOTLIST: Key Scene. Aerial shot Dara on fire. AS same (x5). AS British tanker. AS British tanker. Pan to Dara. AS same.
