- Summary
- COI synopsis: Britain was the first country to cultivate orchids. They were to be found in "gentlemen’s" collections which gave them their rather exclusive reputation - but they are in fact the largest family of plants in the world. Gail Spiro visits a nursery in Oxfordshire which breeds one particular type of orchid, "The Lady’s Slipper" and learns how years of cross breeding have produced a variety of colours and sizes that were never to be found growing in the wild.
