Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Oil Crisis Mounts in Teheran. DESCRIPTION: In Teheran a wild mob demonstrated against the Hague Court’s decision on the oil dispute. The Shah is welcomed by the Premier, Dr Mossadeq and his ministers on leaving hospital after his operation for appendicitis. The American Ambassador in Teheran, Mr Grady, paid a call on the prime minister to convey a letter from President Truman urging Persia to negotiate with the British. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Elevated GV crowds in street. Various shots of mobs demonstrating in streets. Outside hospital, Dr Mossadeq & ministers wait for Shah (who leaves hospital after operation) with his wife. SCU Mossadeq. Shah & wife out, shake hands with ministers, etc. Wife looks bored. Wife with bouquet. Shah drives off in Rolls Royce. Arrival at Mossadeq’s residence, Mr Grady US Ambassador with letter from Truman. SCU Grady holding letter. Enters building. Interior - Grady talks to Mossadeq who is in bed. CU in bed looking at letter. SCU Harriman in courtyard of house, wears an overcoat. Good scenes - Various street scenes. Traffic scenes. Main streets & Anglo-Iranian buildings. Medan Tout Rane Square with Town Hall & statue of King Rezzacha le Grand. Gardens on English Ambassador. Work (trench digging) for water pipes. Iranian Flag flying.
